Traffic Flow is Key for Quality-of-Life and Economic Health

Say             to a Quicker Trip Across Town

On Mayor Lawson’s watch, thoroughfares have been expanded. Pyramid Lane was widened and Sparks Boulevard is undergoing improvements. Traffic signal timing has been optimized.

But explosive growth at Tahoe Reno Industrial Center prolongs daily commutes. Traffic on I-80 has spiked by more than 50 percent in a decade. Mayor Lawson has consistently advocated building a “Northeast Connector” – an alternate route from Spanish Springs to USA Parkway. He is committed to working with state and federal transportation agencies until a plan is approved and funded.

Finally, under Mayor Lawson, City Hall never forgets the basics. Plowing snow, sealing cracks in the road, and clearing storm drains. Stripes are repainted and signage replaced. Roadway is resurfaced. These simple duties are the foundation for quick and safe travel.

A Quicker and Safer Trip to Work

Sparks sits between two commercial landmarks. Nevada’s fastest-growing industrial center is just few miles from our city’s eastern edge. At our western border sits one of the nation’s busiest freight-hauling crossroads, the intersection of Interstate 80 and 580. We’re enduring extraordinary demand on our highways and surface streets.

Mayor Lawson sees traffic management as key to the city’s continued importance as a commercial hub, and to preserving the quality of life in Sparks.
